Why I Became
a Counsellor
My path to becoming a counsellor was shaped by my own experiences with struggle, healing, and the profound impact of having someone truly listen without judgment.
I have a particular interest in helping those whose journeys into parenthood have not been straightforward, and in creating a space where all experiences—whether shaped by joy, loss or uncertainty, can be safely held.
I know about the complexities surrounding fertility, loss, pregnancy and early parenthood and am undertaking doctoral research into perinatal counselling, deepening my understanding of the emotional complexities involved. My work is shaped by both professional experience and a genuine respect for how challenging and transformative these times can be.
I spent many years working closely with children and families, including those with additional needs. Drawing on my background in additional support needs education and perinatal counselling I know the added complexity of parenting children who have additional needs. I feel passionate about offering emotional support to parents. I understand the ongoing demands this can bring—alongside the love, there may be exhaustion, uncertainty, the challenges of advocacy within systems, and at times a sense of isolation.
My Therapeutic Approach
A space to be heard
You will be listened to with care and without judgement. This is a space where you can speak openly and begin to make sense of your thoughts and feelings.
I offer a warm, thoughtful and non-judgemental space where you can explore what is going on for you at your own pace.
Working at your own pace
There is no pressure to rush or “fix” things. We go at a pace that feels safe for you, allowing space for reflection and understanding to develop naturally.
Understanding your story
Together we explore your experiences, relationships and patterns, helping you gain insight into how your past may be shaping your present.
Supporting change
As understanding grows, we can begin to think about what feels different or possible, helping you move towards a greater sense of clarity, safety and self-connection.
Grounded in relationship
I believe the therapeutic relationship itself is central. Feeling safe, seen and understood is often where meaningful change begins.
